I love my job and am honored to be part of such a wonderful profession! Orthodontics brings together so many things that I love and allows me to form connections with my patients and their families. It is always amazing to see my young patients grow as they start and finish their orthodontic treatment. Each patient is unique and I love being able to create a beautiful, healthy smile for each individual patient.
I have been practicing in Farmington Hills/West Bloomfield and the surrounding communities since 1997. After studying music at the University of Iowa, I received my dental degree in 1994 from the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry. I completed the Orthodontic Specialty Program at the University of Illinois in 1997, receiving a master’s degree in Orthodontics and Oral Sciences.
I feel that it is important to keep up with new techniques and I have always embraced the newest technologies in order to provide my patients with the best possible care. I complete many additional hours of continuing education courses each year to keep up to date. I am also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Michigan Association of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Orthodontic Study Club, and a Spear Study Group, where I meet with my local general dentists and periodontists to discuss multi-disciplinary cases.
I grew up in the Chicago area and am proud to be a third generation dentist. West Bloomfield has been my home since 1997 and I love that my job allows me to be an integral part of the community where I live. When I’m not in my office, you can find me walking and biking on a local trail. I love the outdoors, traveling to new places and spending quiet time at home on the weekends with my family and friends.
Dr. Rizk believes in treating patients like family. One of the things she loves most about being an orthodontist is getting to know her patients while working with them to achieve the smile of their dreams. Each year she completes many hours of continuing education to be able to give her patients the best and most up-to-date care options.
After working as a general dentist for 4 years, Dr. Rizk knew that orthodontics would best combine her love of working with children and helping give patients beautiful smiles. She and her husband, a periodontist, moved to Michigan, where Dr. Rizk received her training as an orthodontic specialist at the University of Detroit Mercy and became board-certified soon after.
Originally from southern New Hampshire, she and her husband fell in love with Michigan and decided to make it their home. They live in West Bloomfield with their 3 children, Ahmed, Yousef, and Aminah, and one very spoiled cat named Meezu. When Dr. Rizk is not in the office, you might see her chasing her kids at a local park or find her in Target. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and baking.
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Robert (Robbie) Herman has joined the Nakisher Orthodontics family as an associate orthodontist.
Dr. Herman developed a passion for science and orthodontics at a young age, while he was going through his own orthodontic treatment. In fact, he was one of Dr. Nakisher’s patients and is thrilled to be able to work in the practice where he was treated. Dr. Herman is looking forward to coming to work every day and meeting our fabulous patients! He is a high energy person with a love for creating bright, confident smiles! Being an orthodontist is his dream job! His favorite part of his job is getting to know the patients and working with them to give them a beautiful, healthy smile!
Dr. Herman grew up in West Bloomfield. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, he completed a master’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences from Wayne State University. He then received his dental degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. and returned back home to complete his orthodontic education at the University of Detroit Mercy, completing his master’s degree and certificate in Orthodontics.
When Dr. Herman is not in the office, you may find him on the golf course or cooking dinner for his family and friends. Feel free to share your favorite recipe with him! He and his fiancé, Julia are looking forward to making their home in our community. Dr. Herman will be working alongside Dr. Nakisher and Dr. Rizk in both the Farmington Hills and the Commerce Township office locations. Please join us in welcoming him to our team!
